The Jaques Staunton 1850 Chess set

A very Limited Chess set production of just 100 chess sets. This Chess set truly is a unique collectors item to treasure and a piece of genuine chess history.

Each piece in the set uses John Jaques' original design from 1850 and are crafted from fine Boxwood and jet black Ebony. Each piece is heavily weighted and cushioned with rich English leather in the original Jaques tradition. The white King is marked “Jaques London” and the King’s Rook and King’s Knight bear the mark of a crown on their summits. The visual impact of each piece is striking, combining both robustness and grace. From the graceful angular Bishop’s headpiece with its distinctive wide open cut, to the exquisite hand-crafted two-piece Knight taken straight from the visages of those magnificent steeds gracing the Parthenon, this is one of Jaques finest creations. Even the King’s Formée cross finial is accurately detailed and can be easily removed.The set is housed in a fine English-made case with exquisite fitted trays, miniature brass lock and key. The case is lined and carries a replica of the Original Jaques Staunton Chess set  label that was signed by Howard Staunton himself and is signed by the current Company Directors.
